Objective of the Workshop/Seminar/Activity:
• To create awareness about Innovative Gardening & Farming Practices for entrepreneurship development
• To provide a platform to nurture the business ideas in the field of Innovative Gardening & Farming Practices.

Overall Report of the activity:
A training session on “Innovative Gardening & Farming Practices” organised by IISU Incubation Centre, Jaipur in association with the Department of Botany exclusively for Students & Entrepreneurs.
Dr. Anju Singh welcomed the first guest speaker. Dr. Shilpi Rijwani, Associate professor, Department of Botany, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur. She has around 20 years of experience with specialization in Plant Systematics, Environmental Science and Phytochemistry. She briefed the students about Hydroponic technique of farming. Through this technique Crops can develop faster without the need the soil. She briefed the Participants with the benefits associated with the Hydroponic Farming. These methods can lead to a substantial return on investment (ROI) and the system can be efficient, sustainable and also improves the crop quality.
The next guest speaker of the session is Dr. Kalpana Agarwal, Associate Professor Department of Botany, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur. She has more than 22 years of experience with specialization in Stress Physiology, Plant Physiology and Biochemistry and Plant Tissue Culture. She talked about the benefits of growing plants in Green house . Greenhouses serve as a shield between nature and plants and thus allow growing seasons to be extended as well as possibly improved. They provide shelter from excess cold or heat as well as pests and enhances our growing potential.
Going forward with the session Dr. Anju Singh welcomed the guest Dr. Shashi Bhargava, Retired Associate Professor, Chimanpura Government College. With an Experience of 50years in the field of gardening. She was thrice a president of All India Kitchen Garden Association, jaipur . She has also Organised numerous workshops of Bonsai tray gardens, terrariums, Ikebana. She has Won many state and national level awards in the field of gardening, won highest title of queen of the show in flower shows. Also a garden designer and designs minature ceramics and is into business of minature ceramics.
She illuminated the participants with her expertise on innovative gardening practices.
She introduced the process of designing, building and maintaining a closed terrarium of your own creative design. She gave a short introduction explaining how terrariums came to be and the science behind having a garden in a glass. In the hands on training she introduced to the stages and layers that go into building a terrarium, how to make the right plant selection and how to plan a landscape design, with plenty of hands-on help and tips along the way. It is said that gardening is among the most stress-relieving hobbies we can have. It is among the classic hobbies one can turn into a relatively simple business that you can even start right from your home. How big you can turn your business would depend on you, your free time, the scale of service you would offer, and how much capital you would invest. At the end there was a Q&A session in which students asked their question to ma’am and she replied each one of them gracefully.

Outcome:
From this training session, Participants got to learn Hydroponic Farming, green house plants and innovative gardening practices. They got hands on training on growing of terrarium Participants also got to know they can start their own business straight from their home.
