Overall Report of the activity: Day 1: Poster Exhibition In 1986, the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) asked the Government of India to designate February 28 as National Science Day. NSD is celebrated to commemorate discovery of the 'Raman Effect', which led to Sir C.V. Raman winning the Noble Prize. The event is now celebrated all over India in schools, colleges, universities and other academic, scientific, technical, medical and research institutions. Keeping this tradition, National science week was celebrated for 2 days in our Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology at IIS (deemed to be university). The celebration of science week started on 29th February 2024 with a Science exhibition at 10.30 am organized in Room 401 of university where students of BSc semester 4th Biotechnology prepared and displayed their poster on Current scenario in the field of Medicine, diseases their treatments, tools and techniques, Gene Sequencing, Cloning, Genome analysis, Applications and Scope of Genetic Engineering for human welfare and many more interesting topics. Around 14 students participated in this with lot of enthusiasm. The teaching fraternity were also invited and they attended the exhibition with great enthusiasm along with students. Day 2: Movie Screening On 1st march 2024 movie show for the students of the University was organized. The science movie” Dancing with the Birds" was screened during the movie show. Dancing with the Birds is a 2019 documentary film directed by Huw Cordey and narrated by Stephen Fry. The premise revolves around exotic birds doing mating rituals, such as dancing or creating bowers with the right decorations. This movie takes one through a journey to a strange, fascinating and bizarre dances of birds-of-paradise aren't mere flights of fancy. Young males inherit those dance steps from their fathers, and then refine them through practice and watching adults. Less obvious but equally important are the watchful females—look for them in these video clips. The movie show was attended by students of department of Microbiology and Biotechnology. Outcome of the activity:  It promoted interest in Science and Technology among younger generation.  It encouraged scientific and technological creativity among students and inculcating a sense of pride in their talent.  It gave exploratory experiences, encouraged creative thinking and promoted psychomotor skills among students through self created posters.  Movie screening helped the students to understand and know that in nature there exists a beautiful and strange of birds.
