Overall Report of the activity: On the occasion of 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav: Innovation Week Celebration, Professor K. Vijay Raghavan, Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to the Government of India delivered keynote address at E- Symposium on ‘Building Innovation Ecosystem in Educational Institutes’ on January 12, 2022 . The live session on YouTube was attended by all the faculty members of IIS (deemed to be University). Prof. K Vijay Raghavan emphasized on need of innovation for economic change and sustainability. He said that we need to expand the funding of research and innovation eco-system to position India as a favoured destination for Research and Development. He highlighted on adoption of best global practices for establishing closer linkages with national R&D institutions and academia, talent development and sourcing, strategic partnerships to bolster R&D in India and integrating with the domestic start-up ecosystem. He further added that, innovation must be linked with economic change and market and in synchronization with ongoing policy measures including Swachh Bharat, Made in India etc. etc.
His talk was followed by panel discussion on ‘Grey Hairs not mandatory to build great enterprises’ which included panelists viz. Shri Yashraj Bhardwaj, Young Innovator, Shri Harsh Neekhra, CEO and Founder Novorbis Itus Pvt. Ltd, Ms. Shefali Vinod Ramteke, Founder & COO, PS-1925, Ms. Neelam Bhayre, Founder, WeWake Indigreen Pvt. Ltd. Moderator was Shri. Uday Wankawala, CEO, AIC - Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini.
Then there was Invited Key Note Address by Shri Ankit Agarwal, Founder & CEO, Phool, followed by Panel Discussion- IV on ‘Attracting Big Investment for Innovative ideas from Educational Institution’, including panelists Dr. Anand Despande, Founder & Managing Director, Persistent Systems, Mrs. Sridevi Pankajam, MD, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Shri C V Raman, Chief Technology Officer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited. Moderator of the session was Shri B V R Mohan Reddy, Executive Chairman, Cyient. The panel was composed of eminent industrialists, business tycoons and investors who discussed the current and future trends of investment market and opportunities. They also highlighted emerging approaches to address the current market need.
Post lunch, there was a Fireside Chat by Smt. Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairperson & CEO, Salesforce and moderator was Shri Ankush Tiwari, Serial Entrepreneur & Co-Founder, Zbyte LLC. Panel Discussion-V was on the topic ‘Schools, Innovation, Game and Curriculum’ and the panelists were Mr. Tanmay Kumar Sethi, Class 9, DPS, Rourkela, Odisha, Ms. Ayushi Singh, Class 11, Conossa Convent Girls Inter college, Faizabad, UP, Ms. Pooja Arora, Toycathon team – Macaw, JNU, New Delhi, Ms. Vedika Vignesh, Toycathon team – Kreedavyuh, DPS, Hyderabad, Telangana, moderator: Shri Anil Pradhan, Founder, IPSFR.
The concluding ceremony had a summary of Symposium by Dr. Abhay Jere, CIO, MIC, Address by ‘Chief Guest’ Dr. Subhas Sarkar, Hon’ble MoS, MoE and Vote of Thanks by Prof. Rajive Kumar, Member Secretary, AICTE.

Outcome: The students and faculty member successfully learnt about new opportunities in innovation and entrepreneurship
