E-Symposium on Building Innovation and Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Educational Institutions was held on 11th to 12th Jan 2022 as part of the ‘National Innovation Week’, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) celebration from 10th – 16th Jan 2022. The Ministry of Education, AICTE, and Ministry of Commerce and Industry (DPIIT) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India jointly organized it. The symposium highlighted various initiatives undertaken related to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in our country. The day 1 of the e- symposium started with inauguration session in which the audience was addressed by Dr Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairperson AICTE,Shri Sanjay Murthy, Shri Anurag Jain and Smt Anita Karwal. Inauguration session was followed by first keynote address delivered by Shri Sridhar Vembu, who is the founder of ZOHO corporation who discussed upon ways to motivate students for entrepreneurial activities and develop leadership.
The second Key note address was delivered by Shri. Gautam, founder Far Eye Pvt. Ltd who has also been named as social innovator of the year by Massachusetts Institute of technology in 2011. He shared his journey in the Software technology industry.
Two panel discussions were also held - Innovation, Human Values, & Sustainability moderated by Prof. Anil D Sahasrabudhe, chairman, AICTE and Best Innovation and Start-up Practices in HEIs, moderated by Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, Ex- Chairman, ISRO. Panel Discussions enlightened the audience on innovations and how they have to be sustainable in the long run. Discussion was held upon interaction between academia and industry and the importance of mentorship.
Faculty and students benefitted a lot from the proceedings of the first day of the symposium. All the speakers were successful in motivating the organisations to create an innovation ecosystem in higher education institutes and encourage entrepreneurial activities
