Objective of the Workshop/Seminar/Activity:
1. To understand the establishment of food service facility in hospital set-up.
2. To understand the service of foods to in-house patients
3. To understand the working and preparation of foods in commercial kitchens
Overall Report of the activity: A visit was organized for the Under Graduate and Post
Graduate students of Department of Home Science to the Dietary department of C K Birla,
Rukmani Birla Hospital, Jaipur on 21st March, 2024.
Rukmani Birla Hospital (RBH) is a multi-specialty hospital in Jaipur with world-class
infrastructure which offers comprehensive in-patient and out-patient services. Since its
founding RBH has been providing its patients with the full medical care, encompassing
outpatient services, Neurosciences, Gastro Science, Renal Science, Cardiology, Orthopedics
& Joint Replacement and more.
14 students of BSc and MSc Home Science (Foods and Nutrition) along with faculty, Simran
Singh visited the hospital. The visit began with an introductory session by Dr. Anshu
Chaturvedi, Chief Dietitian who provided very useful information about the dietetics
department of the hospital. Along with her, the Head Chef Mr. Negi provided insights of the
kitchen area where the meals are prepared keeping in mind the condition of patient.
Outcome: The visit provided students with a practical understanding of the applications of
clinical nutrition in the hospital practice.
