Overall report of the activity: The session started with the speech of Dr. Raman Gujaral, Professor, EDII, Ahmedabad. He explained how ideas and innovations may lead to new development. He emphasized on 2 terms majorly, frugal innovations and social entrepreneurship. He explained both of them in detail with examples. He motivated everyone to develop startups that require low capital and will also help to make the world a better place to live. The session was then handed over to Dr Sagi Varghese, CEO of “Blessing Palms”. Dr Varghese then explained everyone how he started Blessing Palm in May’ 2019. His company makes straws from dried fallen palm leaves. The main aim of his company was to engage rural women so that they get employment and equally to find a solution to global problems. He explained the whole procedure of manufacturing of the straws and also encouraged the students to get patent for their innovations. The session was then ended by Dr. Gujaral with an appeal to all young students to keep thinking and innovating new products which not only may provide help to the weaker sections but is also healthy to the environment.
