The orientation session was conducted by the MHRD Innovation Cell on 3rd Nov’2020 between 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Prof. Anil Sehasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE and Mr. A B Shukla, COO, IKS, AICTE were the speakers of the session . The first speaker Prof. Anil Sehasrabudhe, started his talk by introducing Indian Knowledge System (IKS) division which was initiated under Indian Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and operated by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). He introduced that the aim and purpose of IKS division is to conserve our ancient educational system and combine it with the modern technology and young innovations. He also emphasised on the importance reinstating sustainable agriculture , a system where there is no use of pesticides and insecticides to increase the maintain of land and still yield high production . Mr. A B Shukla talked about how COVID has increased the importance of ancient medicines like Turmeric, Ginger, Neem, Tulsi, etc. and how people are consuming them in different ways and also changing their food habits and lifestyle. Mr.Shukla also mentioned the importance of Ayurveda and its uses to rejuvenate the body through diet and nutrition treatment methods to cure many common diseases such as food allergies, which have very few modern treatments. He even talked about the challenges India has to face for its patent over traditional knowledge and goods which have been claimed by other countries. To handle this , Government of India has decided to establish Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL) which collects all the traditional data. He further stated the difference between the City life and the Village life and how villagers try to follow and preserve their old cultures.
The session finally ended with the Question and Answer round and both the experts resolved various Queries
Outcome: By attending this session the participants were able to learn about a lot of things related to our ancient culture, practices, about the agriculture and healthcare sector and most importantly about the methods of exploring and capturing values from Indian Agriculture and Health Sector for sustainable growth and development .
