To commemorate the invention of ‘The Raman Effect’ by the veteran Indian Physicist, Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, National Science Day was celebrated at IIS (deemed to be University) Jaipur, with great enthusiasm on February 28, 2020.It was a joint effort of Students and teachers of all the departments of Faculty of Sciences.
A number of activities were organized to celebrate this day. The function was started by a lecture by Dean, faculty of Science Prof Pradeep Bhatnagar where he addressed the students about the importance of Science in our life and the planet. The programme started with a presentation focussing on the Life history and contributions of Sir C V Raman in the field of Science. This was followed by screening of science movie shows on ‘Amazing animals with unusual super powers’ and ‘ Birth of Earth’ to foster joyful learning and sharing of knowledge amongst the students . Students of Undergraduate and Post graduate programs portrayed their talent in the form of posters prepared by them touching upon various science related themes; these posters were displayed in the whole of University campus. Furthermore, an exhibition of science projects and charts on the theme ‘Women in Science’ was organized in which around 100 students participated. Best exhibits and charts were awarded.
