Visit to Maker’s Space

Visit to Maker’s Space

16th October 2019

An educational visit to Maker's Space was organised by IISU Institution’s Innovation Council on 16th October 2019. Maker's space is a collaborative co-working space designed by Ms. Elizabeth Schrock and Mr. Adityendra Solanki that caters to local and travelling entrepreneurs, freelancers, start-up companies and creative’s’ who desire to work in a professional setting. On arrival, the students were given a tour of the facility which consisted of open concept workplaces, fixed workplaces, meeting rooms, event space and an art studio. Maker's space had various amenities like an eatery, high speed internet connection, printers and copiers, courier and concierge services, and lockable storage facilities to give its members a cohesive working experience. The visit was concluded by an interactive session where the co founders talked about the benefits of a co-working space which include cutting of overhead costs of private offices, a less distracting and more professional environment than cafes and restaurants and a feeling of community among its members that provides an opportunity for cross cultural exposure and connection building. They entertained queries from the students about various aspects like the working hours, the designing process and the inspiration behind their venture. The session ended on a motivational note as students were both enriched with knowledge and offered the chance of tentative internships in future at the Maker's space.
