Mr. Krishna Kaushik CEO & Co-Founder at Hiresun Energy, CEO & Managing Director at REPCI Topic on which activity was organised: Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunity Number of Participants: Students – 575; faculty – 9; Entrepreneur- 3 Objective of the Workshop/Seminar/Activity: • Entrepreneurship and Innovation as an alternative career • Practical entrepreneurial skills & knowledge • Innovation, research and patent • Interpersonal skills & Innovation Overall Report of the activity: A half day online workshop was conducted by the Institute’s Innovation Council (IIS deemed to University) for the students, research scholars and faculty of the university. The workshop started with an address by Dr. T.N. Mathur, Vice Chancellor of the University. Workshop Convenor Prof. K.S. Sharma director (CRIT, IIS deemed to be University), explained the objectives of the workshop and importance of Entrepreneurship in today’s scenario to the attendees. He also enlightened the students about the role of innovation, emerging technologies, their potential benefits and benefits of the patent policy. The workshop was divided into 2 sessions. First session was a highly informative and interactive lecture by Mr. Nakul J. Sharedalal who is a postgraduate in Law from Queen Mary University London and is currently practising in Ahmedabad. He explained about Intellectual Property Laws in India and abroad. He also detailed history of I P in India. Students were also made aware about trade mark, Copyright, Design, Patent and trade secrets. He also explained the importance of managing the IP portfolio by companies, entrepreneurs and Universities. He gave a very interactive presentation using case studies of fevi Kwik, Castrol, Apple Inc, Amul, Cadilla etc. The second session of the Workshop was organized on the topic ‘Solar energy and Entrepreneurship opportunities in India’, and the speaker was Mr. Krishna Kaushik. The speaker started the session on the note that Solar Energy can help in creating a sustainable tomorrow, checking Climate Change and if developed effectively them today’s energy related problems can be solved efficiently as well. He expressed that there is a rising demand of operation and maintenance work, procurement and survey, production, selling and providing services related works of the various popular solar products. Like - Solar Lamps, Solar Cooker, Street Lights, Pumping System, PVCs, Solar Battery, E-Rickshaw, Invertors and Roof Top Solar Panels. He exemplified the use of solar energy at large scale by specifically stating the Shirdi Sai Baba Mega Kitchen’s case. He also stressed that career field are specifically open for innovators and entrepreneurs who can help in creating useful solar products. Similarly he displayed a six port mobile charger as an innovative product created at his firm. The session ended with a fruitful Q&A session. The official vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Shweta Kastiya, which concluded the event. Outcome: On one hand participants were acquainted with the management and opportunities regarding the IP portfolio by companies, entrepreneurs and Universities and on the other they were exposed to solar products and services related entrepreneurship ideas. Wherein they also had a scope to not only work with the products already present in the market but also use their innovation to develop new ones.
