Description: The Department of Fashion & Textiles had organised workshop on traditional embroidery from different regions of India. This workshop was conducted to introduce students to the types Chikankari stitches techniques, Gota patti, Phulkari, Kashida and Kasuti to obtain the motifs resource person of the workshop was Dr. Amita Walia, Professor, University of Delhi. She gave demonstration and introduce various types of stitches that is used in embroidery i.e. She was explained an overview of the history and origins of Chikankari embroidery and she also explained of materials, tools, and motifs on hands-on practice of basic Chikankari stitches such as shadow work, jaali work, Phanda, Baccha, Bakhia, Tepchi, Murri Chikan and Ghaas Patti etc. In second embroidery she was explained historical and cultural significance of Phulkari embroidery she introduction to the vibrant color palettes and patterns typical of Phulkari Practical sessions on the darning stitch and variations used in Phulkari.embroidery she was explained. After learning the technique, the students showcased their finished embroidery pieces, highlighting their creativity and mastery of the techniques learned during the workshop. OUTCOME OF THE ACTIVITY : Students gained valuable skills in traditional embroidery of India will help them to carry out craft documentation and further help in qualitative /authentic textile purchasing traditional textiles.
